What are Placeholders?

Categories: fs2-general

Placeholders are used to represent folders which have not yet been read from disk and are displayed using a folder icon with plus sign within it. Placeholders are used to avoid the need to read filtered content or to delay reading of content.

After a folder comparison finishes, Placeholders can be read from disk by double clicking on the [+] or by selecting them and using the right click context menu. By default, only the next level of folders is read but you can also read a Placeholder and all of its sub folders from disk by using the OPTION key.
